Tien Ung is Director of Leadership Programs and Initiatives at the Center. In her role, she helps practitioners and leaders to design new practice, program, and policy solutions by building their capacity to translate and apply relevant research. Her goal is to support individuals and organizations to build knowledge and generate solid, culturally-relevant evidence to improve outcomes for families impacted by adversity and trauma. Tien draws on over 25 years of experience as a child protection expert, trauma therapist, social work educator, community-based researcher, and organization/systems consultant. Throughout her career, Tien has worked across various sectors—including child welfare systems, court systems, school systems, law enforcement, rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters, youth programs, and child and family trauma clinics—to codify both existing and new practice strategies and program models important to their missions. Tien is a licensed clinical social worker, and holds a BA in psychology, and a Masters and Doctoral degree in Social Work.
