This story was in response to the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recent recommendations for pediatricians to confront violence in children’s lives. The AAP is working to identify new approaches to the problem, including education, advocacy, and changes in clinical practice. Center Director Jack Shonkoff was interviewed for the story and shared insight on how toxic stress affects children’s development.
